Pop By Tag: Working With A Good Real Estate Agent Just Makes Scents

Updated: Feb 24, 2022

A fall pop-by gift to your client to let them know that they are in your thoughts and that you are ready to serve their real estate needs. Below you'll find a handy guide to quickly plan, prep, and deliver these catchy gifts to your clients and prospects.

SCHEDULE IN YOUR CALENDAR

Don’t make the mistake of not planning out when you’ll assemble your pop-by gifts and when you plan to deliver them. And if you are anything like me – if it doesn’t make it into my calendar, it probably won’t make it into my life!

Assembling your pop-by gifts is easy to pair with another activity. Might I suggest listening to a real estate podcast or watching a webinar while working? What about enlisting the help of your family and making a movie night of it while working on the living room floor? Work alongside another realtor to practice and perfect your prospecting scripts!

PICK YOUR POP BY GIFT

My advice? DO NOT overcomplicate your gifts. Seriously. We have created the pop-by tags for you, and below you’ll find a list of pop-by gifts you can easily pick from in order to streamline this process.

  • Candle

  • Febreeze / Glade Room Spray

  • Plug-In Room Freshener

  • Car Freshener

  • Scent Sachet

GATHER YOUR SUPPLIES

As you prepare to pop in on your clients with some love – it’s just easier to assemble all your supplies upfront. Figure out what you are missing so you can pick these up in one run or order them online. Nothing is worse than sitting down to complete a project to only discover that you don’t have what you need to get it done.

I’ve opted for keeping many supplies together in a craft box, easy to store and having everything together in one place ready for when I need it.

CREATE YOUR TAGS

You’ll need to create the tags to pair with your pop-by gift. Easy as pie. Follow the guide below for fail-proof beautiful tags.

  1. Plugin and turn on the laminating machine for it to begin warming up.

  2. Print PDF File onto paper. Double-Sided. Flip on Long Side. NOTE: before hitting 'print', ensure that the setting is to print the 'actual size' and not 'fit. This will ensure that your tags are the same size as a standard business card. If you print to 'fit' then most likely, your tags will be slightly smaller than your business cards.

  3. Place the printed sheet of labels into a laminating sleeve and run through the laminating machine when ready.

  4. Using the paper cutter, cut out the pop by tags along the lines. Don’t worry – I’ve found that they hold up just fine as you cut into the laminate sheet. Cut along the main lines and then trim the top corners.

ASSEMBLE YOUR GIFTS

There are many ways to quickly and beautifully arrange your pop-by gifts for delivery. Some ideas are below. No matter how you choose to assemble your gift, pair each pop by tag over a business card.

  • Hole punch the tag and business card and tie to pop by with string or ribbon.

  • Place pop by in a door hanging back and staple the tag and business card to the bag (Purchase bags HERE)

MAP YOUR DELIVERIES

Streamline your delivery process! Seriously, you’ll love me for this one! Quickly create a delivery map in google maps to plan your delivery route and easily navigate to each property. Delivering your pop-by gifts all at once, this map will help you plan an effective route. If your pop-by gifts are non-perishable, you may opt to deliver your pop-by gifts when in the area conducting showings or in the area for an appointment.

DECIDE HOW YOU’LL CONNECT

Depending on who you are delivering to, your allotted time to make your deliveries, along with the quantity of pop-by gifts that you are getting out – you’ll want to decide in advance how you are connecting with your people. Options below!

  • Call in advance of delivery to let them know that you had something to drop off to them and to make sure the time is OK to swing by just to drop off. This allows you to have great conversations, catch up, and even ask for a referral.

  • Sly dial and leave a voicemail that you’ll be swinging by at ________, that you just had something small you wanted to leave them with and will leave at the door if they are not home. If there is a time conflict or they are out of town, you’ll likely receive a text or call back.

  • Just pop in and deliver it! Knock, if they are home – great! If not, no problem. Leave it at the doorstep and follow up with a text. Know that not everyone likes an unannounced guest and that upon answering the door, they might anticipate that you expect to be welcomed in. I like to clarify I just wanted to drop off "a little something" to them.

  • Drop the pop-by gift at the front door and follow up with a call, sly dial, or text to let them know you’ve left something there for them. After all, not everyone uses the front door! This method I’ve used when delivering large quantities over a couple of days and have found that it can still produce conversations to reconnect with your sphere or prospects. Have another person drive so you can make calls between houses. Alternatively, create a text ‘template’ that you can copy and paste into texts to each household delivered.
